The Return of Silver Travertine Stacked Stone and Uba Tuba

This 9-foot-2-inch outdoor kitchen brings back one of our favorite color combinations. Silver Travertine stacked stone and level 1 Uba Tuba granite return together in this Ave Maria, Florida project. We have installed this pairing many times over the years. Even so, we still love it as much as the first time.

The summer kitchen sits on the extended lanai of a Mystique floorplan in Ave Maria. In addition, the home features a zero-corner slider that opens the living area to the lanai.

Why Silver Travertine Stacked Stone Still Works

Silver Travertine stacked stone blends soft gray, cream, and warm tan tones. Uba Tuba granite, on the other hand, is a deep green-black with gold and green flecks. Together, they create a balance of light and dark that feels timeless.

Of course, we designed this kitchen to be just as functional as it is beautiful. Every component has a purpose, from ventilation to storage.

Venting the Hood Through the Block Wall

For ventilation, we installed a Trade-Wind 36-inch vent hood and vented it through the block wall. Because we did not tie into the existing vent stack, we could place the grill anywhere in the kitchen.

This approach also improves performance. The duct run is shorter and needs no bends. Plus, the through-wall vent can handle the high CFM this hood is able to push.

Grilling, Storage, and Propane

The cooking area centers on a Blaze 32-inch LTE Plus series grill. Like every grill we install, it received a full leak test as part of the project. Since the community does not have natural gas, we also supplied a leak-tested 20 lb propane tank with a gauge. The tank fits inside the cabinet.

Below the grill, a Blaze 32-inch drawer and door combination adds storage for tools and supplies.

Refrigeration and Cleanup

A Blaze 5.5-cubic-foot outdoor-rated refrigerator with a stainless steel door keeps drinks and ingredients cold. Then, a refrigerator trim kit gives the cutout a clean finish.

For cleanup, we added an undermount sink with a high-arc faucet. Underneath, a Blaze single vertical access door provides access to the plumbing. Finally, a Blaze narrow roll-out trash storage drawer keeps waste out of sight.

Custom Stainless Steel Backsplash

Behind the grill and under the vent hood, the homeowner chose our custom stainless steel backsplash. We fabricate these at 36 inches wide and 36 inches tall. In addition, each one matches the depth of the 3 cm granite for a seamless fit.

Grill Accessories for Extra Fun

For a little extra grilling fun, the homeowner also added two accessories:

Framed to Last and Finished in Silver Travertine Stacked Stone

We framed this kitchen like all of our custom kitchens, using powder-coated aluminum. Next, we wrapped the frame with a wet weather backer board. You can see this process on our outdoor kitchen under construction page.

After framing, we finished the cabinet with Silver Travertine stacked stone. Then, we topped it with level 1 Uba Tuba granite.

Plan an Outdoor Kitchen With Silver Travertine Stacked Stone

If you are starting to picture your own outdoor kitchen, browse our stacked stone selections and granite selection gallery. These pages give you a starting point. Later in the design process, we bring our stone samples so you can see how they look on your lanai.

Next, we leave the sample you select with you. That way, you can take it to the granite yard to compare slabs. If you are out of town, or simply prefer to work virtually, you can choose from photos instead. Either way, we follow the route that is easiest for you.
