No Job Too Big Or Too Small For Elegant Outdoor Kitchens!
This was a grill upgrade for a home Sanibel Island. The homeowner already had an outdoor kitchen. We did not need to alter the base of the cabinets or the countertop. What you see in the photos is the Blaze 32” 4-burner grill with the insulated grill jacket. The old grill required a cutout that was larger than the cutout needed for the new Blaze grill. Because the existing cutout was deeper than what was needed, we filled the remaining gap with a piece of 304 stainless that was custom crafted and fit to the space. Thus we have a perfect blend of the new with the old and it looks as if the two had always been together.

We certainly have built a lot of outdoor kitchens in homes by DiVosta/Pulte, especially in the Pinnacle floorplan. When you see the size of the under truss lanai in this layout, it is easy to understand why. We don’t always build the summer kitchens for the full length of the available wall in this layout. In the past, we have built it more toward the center with two corners or shifted it to the interior side and stopped before the edge of the wall. However, in this case we ran it all 13’3”, that’s a lot of grilling love! We tucked the sink to the left of the grill, which freed up the remaining right side solely for counterspace and plenty of room for food prep.
To the left, you see the undermount sink with the high-arc faucet. The high-arc faucet that we use is a Delta faucet with a removable spray nozzle. It is also magnetic so that it stays in place and does not sag when you put it back. We vented the Trade-Wind 36” hood through the existing vent stack that DiVosta/Pulte installs with their summer kitchen rough-in package. Under the 32” 4-burner Blaze grill the customer upgraded from the simple double access door to the Blaze 32” double drawer/access door combo. The Blaze outdoor rated 4.1 CU FT refrigerator keeps the drinks cool on those hot pool days. Everything is easier to keep tidy with the Blaze narrow trash bin that rolls out and comes with a 42-quart trash bin.
The granite was a level 1 Santa Cecilia granite. The homeowner went with the most commonly selected backsplash layout which is 4” side splash on the left and 4” backsplash that rises to 36” in height for a width of 36” centered behind the grill and under the hood. This was paired with the Silver Travertine stacked stone. The Silver Travertine is so versatile, typically we see it paired with a cooler tone granite, but it does pull some browns and looks great with the warmer granite types too.
The hood vent cover is custom made for a couple of different reasons as is the case with this project. Due to the truss structure, the vent stack running through the attic comes out a little far off the wall. This is why you see the vent cover step out a little further as it gets closer to the ceiling. Another reason why we have our vent covers custom made is because although the hood itself is perfectly square the walls, unlike the hood and the vent covers, are made by hand not manufactured. We will sometimes have vent covers that are longer on side than the other, or the front may need to be made longer than the back.

Level 1 Napolitan Granite
Talk about looking cool & sleek! The L-shape outdoor kitchens are functional and great for entertaining with the bar where guests (or a lucky spouse) can sit and relax. But that should come as no surprise, since this outdoor kitchen was built in a home in Paseo by Stock Development, a community that is all about entertainment.We did not do the stucco but coordinated our schedule with a company that did complete that portion of the work. The paint color of the summer kitchen is an exact match of the color of the exterior of the home. The components included are the undermount sink with the high-arc faucet, Trade-Wind 36” hood with customer vent cover, 32” 4-burner Blaze grill with DDC (door/drawer combo), the Blaze outdoor rated 4.1 CU FT refrigerator.
The granite was a level 1 Napolitan granite. There is a 4” backsplash that rises to 36” in height for a width of 36” centered behind the grill and under the hood. There is a 10” overhang on the bar side of the summer kitchen. This summer kitchen fit along the existing 8’8” space of the wall. The bar side on the right side of the outdoor kitchen, and is perpendicular to the wall is 5’6” in length. Elegant Outdoor Kitchens constructed this beautiful barbecue island in Materita, inside the Pelican Preserve community located right here in Fort Myers, Florida. You will see that the kitchen stops a little short of the wall on the right side. This allowed for the installation of the hurricane shutters, should the need arise. The homeowners received a lot of input from both their designer and siblings regarding the outdoor kitchen style and colors; we were happy to put everything in an easy to share electronic format. Our use of CAD (Computer Aided Design) enabled us to share the conceptual designs with everyone during the design phase. We truly enjoyed all the positive feedback as well.

Ultimately, everyone opted for the softer color of the Light Travertine stacked stone and a level one Giallo Ornamental granite. This combination of materials most definitely complemented one another. These color choices were in line with the original feel of the existing paint and paver colors. In this custom outdoor kitchen, we installed the durable and versatile Blaze 32” four-burner grill, a double drawer & access door combo, under-mount sink with a high-arc faucet and single access and a Blaze 5.2 CU FT outdoor rated refrigerator. An additional feature of this outdoor kitchen (that cannot be seen in the photos that we’ve included) is the 15-year Invisablock sealer applied by the granite manufacturer.

This is another one of our custom outdoor kitchens that was under construction in south Naples, specifically the Naples Reserve community. This community is very close to Marco Island where Hurricane Irma made landfall as a Category 3 storm on September 10, 2017. We had the base of the cabinet completed and the hood was installed but we were still waiting on the granite. The kitchen did great, we were very proud of the quality of work by our team.
We always knew they did great work, but this was definitely the biggest test and we went two for two in an area that was very near the eye of the storm. The customer selected the Silver Travertine stacked stone & a level 1 Blue Sapphire granite. The 4” backsplash rises to 36” high for a width of 36” centered under the hood. The components included in this outdoor kitchen are the Blaze narrow trash pullout, which comes with a 42 qt trash bin, the Blaze 34” Professional 3-burner grill, the Blaze Professional Power Burner (great for crab boils), for storage there is the double drawer/access door under the grill and the access door under the sink. The hood is a 36” Trade-Wind hood with a 36” wide duct cover.

We never really wanted to have our outdoor kitchens tested during a hurricane, but we have been asked about it by customers and have had some customers jokingly remark about them being built as solid as a bunker.

This outdoor kitchen was in the final stages of construction when it became apparent that Florida and likely the west coast was going to take a direct hit from Hurricane Irma. By the time the storm hit, everything was done with the exception of the punch out list.
This home is located in Winding Cypress in Naples which is close to Marco Island where Hurricane Irma made landfall as a Category 3 storm on September 10, 2017. As you can see, the hurricane shutters were still up when we took the photos. In case you were wondering, yes even the hood withstood the storm and sustained no damage.

For this barbecue island we go back to Hampton Park at Gateway where the idea of Elegant Outdoor Kitchens was crafted. The summer kitchen rough-in option is incredibly popular in this community that was developed by WCI Communities. Due to the wall that WCI added with their rough-in option, the WCI homes lend themselves to that built-in look.
This customer went for a neutral look with the Light Travertine stacked stone and Giallo Ornamental granite. They opted to run the stacked stone to the bottom of the opening, approximately 41 above counter height.
As we come out of the summer months, we are reminded that living in Florida is really about living comfortably, outdoors in Florida. A pool and an outdoor space truly turn our houses into homes. But in the summer it is so hot and humid, the most desirable thing is to be in the water. Many Floridians are pool side all day, every day, especially families with children; and when the whole family is outside, it is no fun to be cooking inside.

This outdoor kitchen was designed and planned before the out of town customer had even closed on their home in Prato of Pelican Preserve. The customer worked closely with us selecting the stacked stone and granite through pictures. Initially we visited the home with the stacked stone options, allowing the customer to see (through photos) how the stacked stone coordinated with their paver and paint color. Once a stacked stone was selected, we took that stone to the granite yard and paired it with granites that we felt looked great while meeting the customer’s criteria. Yes, it is extra work to lug the heavy samples around, but because samples change colors depending on the color of items around them, we feel that we owe this service to our customers.
We see a combo here that we have seen before which is the Silver Travertine and the St. Cecilia Light level 1 granite. The semi-circle backsplash, gives it the added touch of elegance.
In this outdoor kitchen, we installed the Blaze 32” 4-burner grill with a double door under the grill, the Blaze 4.1 CU FT outdoor rated refrigerator and an under mount sink with a single access door.

This summer kitchen is like a Fire Magic gallery, using just about every Fire Magic barbecue island component that you can get. This was a remodel inspired by an upcoming Labor Day Party. We are so excited for this homeowner, we can’t wait for them to unveil this amazing master piece to all of their friends. The only remnants of the original outdoor kitchen are the travertine tile backsplash and the box above the hood that the vent stack runs through.
To match the rich, more traditionally colored existing travertine tile, the bold California Gold stacked stone was selected for the facade. The stone wraps around the front, the side and along the backside that faces the pool. The granite was a higher end granite Saturnia, which has a black base with large areas of gold. There is a 10 bar overhang on the back of the right side of the kitchen that faces the pool. This is definitely the entertainer’s custom outdoor kitchen, with the finishing touch being the colored lights under the lip of the granite.
