The 22 footer!

GL Homes earns major points in the outdoor living department with the design of this lanai!  This kitchen was built in a Captiva floorplan with the extended lanai.  At 22′ long, this kitchen sets the new record for our longest straight kitchen build.

The stucco base, with a sand finish, and level 3 Ocean Beige granite have a modern & coastal look.

To summarize, there is a ton of counterspace, tons of functionality and tons of style!  We are so happy with how this one turned out and we had fun watching it all come together!

Still not too pretty to use!

Blaze outdoor kitchen

Ben & Andrea work in the field a lot so we get to know our customers pretty well.  Something that we commonly here though, as the jobs are wrapping up, is that the kitchen is “too pretty to use.”  While we love the comment, at the same time we are quick to reassure them, that no it is not too pretty to use.  And this kitchen is no different, it’s pretty, but not too pretty to use!

The countertop is a level 6 Cintiliante granite and backsplash.  The stacked stone was a special order stone by MSI.  It is the Grey Oak Honed.  When we first met with the customer, the customer said they wanted the stacked stone on the kitchen to match the stone on their water feature.  We were able to order them a sample of the stacked stone so that they could check the match.  Once confirmed, we knew we were ready to rock and roll.  Click here if you are interested in viewing all of the special order stones available.

Outdoor Kitchen with Hestan Components

Outdoor kitchen with Hestan components

This summer kitchen was built in a Summerwood by Pulte Homes in Bridgetown.  The cabinet is 8’2″ long and we stayed a few inches away from the sliders.  The cool thing about the Hestan components is they have a pattern on the doors and the grill hood stays put even if only opened partially.

The components included in this kitchen were:

  • Under mount sink with high-arc faucet
  • Heston 18” vertical door
  • Tradewind 36” Hood
  • Custom stainless stack chase
  • Custom stainless 3D backsplash behind grill (36″ W x 36″ H x 1 1/4″ D)
  • Hestan 30-Inch Built-In Propane Gas Grill W/ Rotisserie – Steeletto
  • Hestan Grill Cover For 30-Inch Built-In Grill
  • Hestan 30-Inch Propane Tank/Trash Drawer & Storage Cabinet Combo – Steeletto
  • Aspire by Hestan 24-Inch 5.6 CU. Ft. Reversible Hinge Outdoor Rated Refrigerator with Lock
  • Blaze outdoor fridge trim kit

The color choices are one of our favorites, the Silver Travertine stacked stone & the level 2 Blue Sapphire granite.  The Blue Sapphire granite was popular several years ago and then it was hard to find for the last few years.  It’s now back and we were so excited that it was available for this customer.  And like always, there is nothing that finishes the look of the kitchen like the Silver Travertine stacked stone backsplash.

The pictures below show the start to finish from planning to completion.

Outdoor kitchen in DiVosta’s Stellar model

Outdoor kitchen with Blaze components

This outdoor kitchen was built in DiVosta Builders Stellar model at Terreno.  The kitchen cabinet is 10’7″ in length.  It features the White Oak Multi-Face special order stacked stone.  The special order stones are by MSI and can be viewed here.  The countertops and 8″ backsplash are a level 1 Uba Tuba granite.  This outdoor kitchen, like most of ours, is full of Blaze Grills components.  An added bonus of Blaze is that all of the doors and drawers feature soft close construction.  The following components were built into the outdoor kitchen.

The lanai that was transformed into a piece of artwork

This was an update to an outdoor kitchen that we had built several years ago.  The homeowner decided they wanted to increase the functionality and beauty of the overall space.  They had five objectives in mind: add a vent hood for that pesky smoke, replace the existing granite backsplash with a 3D stainless backsplash, install sconces, add a stacked stone backsplash along the wall and add a tongue and groove ceiling.

While we did not have an active role in the tongue and groove ceiling, we did put them in touch with a vendor who was able to coordinate their schedule with us and complete the project in a timely manner.

The before and after photos are shown below and what an incredible transformation.  This homeowner transformed their lanai into a piece of artwork.

Worth the Wait

This L-shape outdoor kitchen project has a grill cabinet that is 12’6” (along the 13’4” wall) with an “open below” bar top that rests atop a 14” x 14” support pillar.  The bar top comes out 6’0″ away from the 13’4″ wall.

The granite in this kitchen is a level 3 Steel Gray with the leather finish.  The leather finish has a little more texture vs the typical smooth top of polished granite.  It also has a bit of a softer feel to it.

This kitchen features the special order stacked stone: Sunset Silver.  The special order stones are not always on backorder, but this one was.  It did delay the completion of the project by about 7-8 weeks.  However, the customer decided that the choice was worth the wait.  We supported their decision and I think we all felt very validated once we saw it come together!  It is absolutely gorgeous!

The kitchen includes the following components:

The Trifecta

This was a kitchen with a handful of things that make this project memorable.  One of the neatest parts about this project is not actually a feature of the kitchen, but it’s the reason why we are calling it the Trifecta.  We can now say, that we have built a kitchen for all three of the siblings in one family.  We appreciate that this family has continued to put their confidence in us time and time again.  It feels like a big accomplishment and is humbling at the same time.

Some other notable features are that this kitchen has not one, but two grills.  In addition to “Ole Trusty”, the Blaze 32″ LTE Series Grill, we built in the Memphis Pro Grill.

The mitered edge on the granite countertop makes it appear as though the countertop is 4″ thick.

The stainless 3D backsplashes were fabricated with a 4″ radius on the top corners.  Typically our stainless backsplashes have square corners, but they are topped by a hood.  We felt in the absence of a hood, the square corners would be a bit too stark, so we softened that look with the rounded corners.

And like always, the icing on the cake is the stacked stone backsplash from the top of the granite backsplash to ceiling height.  The stone backsplash finishes a kitchen with a rich look in a way that nothing else can.

For the DIY’er, you can copy the look by shopping the links below.

“I Love the Sparkles!”

This customer waited years for this outdoor kitchen!  This was a repeat customer, and when we built their first outdoor kitchen several years ago, they loved the Arctic White Stacked Stone and the sparkly shimmer that comes with it.  But the colors on the lanai that they had at the time was not a good match for it.  A few years and one move later, they got it!  They also decided to go with the 3D stainless backsplash this go round.  If you plan to grill a lot and want the least maintenance, the stainless backsplash is the best option.

This outdoor kitchen was built in a Pulte Home, in a renown floorplan with the extended lanai option.

Outdoor Kitchen in Pulte’s Stardom Model in TerraWalk at Babcock Ranch

This is a great looking kitchen!  The silver travertine stacked stone and Bianco Ibiza granite pair so nicely with the pavers and wall colors.  The color choices for this kitchen were really easy to make and it turned out beautifully.  This kitchen is 8’7″ along the wall and comes out 5’6″ away from the wall.  There is a 10″ overhang off the back and left sides of the 5’6″ cabinet.  Even though it will be some time before this model sells, we hope that future homeowner gets lots of use and enjoyment from this outdoor kitchen.

You can view this kitchen in person at Pulte’s Model Center in TerraWalk at Babcock Ranch.  Please check their website for directions and the current hours.
